An atmospheric, multidisciplinary exploration of art, sensuality, and the complex relationship between artist and model.
‘A New Death’ features a non-linear narrative, shifting between two timelines: that of the modernist painter Pedro in 1920s Paris, and that of an unnamed photographer in contemporary Utrecht. Both artists grapple with their identities as creators and as men. Their convictions are discussed, questioned, and dismantled through layered dialogues with models and muses.
Part novel, part art book, ‘A New Death’ functions as both a philosophical essay and autobiographical fiction. The book contains 47 photographic prints in both black and white and colour. Produced over a period of six years, these works serve as a physical manifestation of the philosophical and art-theoretical ideas explored within the text.
124 pages (A4) | printed on 120 gsm rustic paper | limited to 10 signed copies (all in gold).
